Super Furry Animals
Before he was a film actor, Rhys Ifans was the first singer of Super Furry Animals, and the name came from T-shirts that Gruff Rhys's sister printed. Their first EP, in 1995, holds the Guinness record for the longest EP title, using the full name of the village of Llanfairpwll. Alan McGee signed them to Creation that year. Fuzzy Logic and Radiator were full of bright, strange melodies, and Guerrilla was recorded at Real World. Their 2001 album was the first released at the same time on CD and DVD and was up for the Mercury Prize. Mwng, sung in Welsh, came out on their own label. They later moved to Rough Trade for Hey Venus! in 2007, took a break from 2010 and reunited for shows in 2015 and 2016.
